kitchen!

I have seen about 25 houses online. Most of them have all the features that i am looking for, some even fall in our price range, but i still dont feel that its home!Well, like how you meet you meet your guy/gal for the first time,it rings a bell in your mind when you see your first home!I strongly believe in it.There are only 3 houses in the 25 list that i could see myself living in.I dont think that i will be buying any of these in the near future since the are overpriced, have to wait for at-least 6 months to pool in some more down payment.
Downsizing is never an option when it comes to settling down.Moving from a 2bedroom apartment to a home is easier. But dont even think of moving to a 1 bedroom apt from a 2 bedroom. You will end up throwing away most things you have.
If you are a family of 3,you should at least have 3 or 4 bedrooms. Its always advisable to have a separate living and family room especially when you have kids. You don't generally use your living room when your Television is in the family room which overlooks the kitchen. There should be either barstools or small eat in area in the kitchen.A formal living area is highly desirable.Counter tops should always be clear and clean, cluttering the counter tops make the kitchen look smaller and untidy.Use the appliances and keep them away after use, like your toaster/blender etc!A great back splash would add a lot to the look of your kitchen. If you dont have a back splash, you can always get the stick on back splash tiles from homedepot or lowe's or any shop of your choice.Try not to choose a color that dont match with our counter tops,a shade closer to the counter top would be a big plus.
Try to choose stainless steel appliances always, they are so easy to clean.Don't catch rust.Low maintenance.Gas range is always a plus, you will never understand the advantage to a gas range unless you have one!It saves so much energy.Always try to get a solar panel installed.A little work for our environment and save some energy!!!

Buying home:)

Buying a house is by far the toughest thing that i have come across.A lot of research, still you end up feeling you know nothing:).Buying a house is the biggest dream in everyone's mind. Its truely the BIGGEST dream in my life.Making house a home is in the dweller's hand.I started my research 2 years ago when i was in no condition to even think about buying one.My husband has no interest in such things and i ended up doing all the work myself.I have always been a big Follower of HGTV and thought that the programs would help me.I Felt that i knew everything about homebuying when i first thought got into the market, its overwhelming.I live in Boston and i am looking for a home in Virginia.Thats again a tough one:)

Designing the Interior

Home arrangement always reflect a person's character.I feel that every home should be arranged according to the dweller's taste.Well.... people limit interior designing to furniture placing and show pieces.Having a medium sized managable home is always a plus than a huge(ridiculously expensive)home, which you cannot manage.
Getting back to the interiors ahem....I would start my interior decor from the colors that i choose to paint the interiors. It can always come from within you.Generally a light color would make the house look bigger, and a dark color would make it look smaller.I am sure most people like spacious homes,so always go for a lighter shade.Painting the whole house a single light color would make it look spacious. The same goes with the florring.I would always choose hardwood floors which is easier to clean.Always choose furniture according to the size of the room.Dont ever try to fix huge furniture in a small living area. That would make the room look even smaller. Most people who dont have such ideas and sense of designing end up doing that.A rug would always bring in a cozy feeling to the home.Leather is always preferable coz its a lot easier to maintain.A lotta color could be added with the pillows that you add.A sectional could be used if the shape of the room permits that.
Curtains are a must, they bring in more privacy.Curtains could always be a big plus.I would highly recommend a decorative curtain that continues through the living area, dining area etc.It will totally depend on the floor plan of the house.Arrangements should be minimal to make the house look spacious.
And as i said earlier always stick on to your preferences while arranging a house.Dont try to mock anything that you see around coz that might not just fit in your kind of house and space.Trust me....an expensive home arrangement is not necessarily the best looking.
